The Restoration Team (TRT)

Formed in 2017 after Houston was devastated by Hurricane Harvey, St. Paul’s was one of four congregations taking the lead with its formation and contribution to the long-term recovery strategy after natural disasters. The need is still critical, with some home restorations still not completed from Harvey and other natural disasters. Most of the people we serve are elderly or disabled and live without adequate insurance or financial resources.

Volunteer by contacting TRT on their website here.

  • Workdays are the second Saturday of the month from 9-2:30 pm.

UMCOR (UNited Methodist Committee on Relief)

The non-profit global humanitarian organization of the United Methodist Church, responding to civil and natural disasters. Working in more than 80 countries, its mission is to alleviate human suffering. St. Paul’s volunteers have supported UMCOR by compiling “Flood buckets” for hurricane victims and by donations through United Methodist Committee on Relief.

Other Resources & Information

Report storm damage in these ways, depending on needs:

  • All residents who incur damage should report damages to the State of Texas using the iSTAT Damage Survey. Information is used to obtain potential state and federal resources. Results are confidential unless the resident allows their information to be shared with nonprofits.

  • Call 2-1-1 and 3-1-1
Harris County and City of Houston residents can call 3-1-1 for information about transportation, infrastructure, debris pick up, and other services. For post incident support and other needs, residents can call 2-1-1 for assistance.

  • Sharing your information with Crisis Cleanup, Call 832-509-2977. (“SE Texas Storms”). Nonprofit organizations registered with Crisis Cleanup log on to identify the residents’ needs and potentially help them.  Crisis Cleanup is about short-term help.

  • Complete the Connective Survey to connect to local resources and recovery organizations for the specific assistance they need. This is a way to connect for help with short-term, medium-term, and long-term recovery.
