The King of Kings

  • St. Paul's United Methodist Church 5501 Main St Houston, TX 77004 USA (map)

Watch Cecil B. de Mille’s epic silent movie about the life of Christ, in St. Paul’s beautiful Sanctuary, with a moving symphonic accompaniment improvised at St. Paul’s grand Schantz pipe organ by internationally renowned organist, David Briggs.

When released in 1927, The Film Daily wrote “There can be said nothing but praise for the reverence and appreciation with which the beautiful story has been developed. . . The King of Kings is tremendous from every standpoint. It is the finest piece of screen craftsmanship ever turned out by DeMille”.

David Briggs is artist-in-residence at St. John-the-Divine Cathedral in New York City; this will be his 62nd time to enhance this monumental movie in live performance with improvised music.

An event not to be missed.
